Something New!

Maybe it seems silly, but don't we ALL enjoy getting something new? I mean, for anyone who ever lived with hand-me-downs, of course they were o.k., but there is just nothing like getting something new, that is yours, and has never been worn by anyone else!

So imagine living in a children's home. Don't get me wrong, it's a blessing to watch God provide through old or gently used clothing, but after awhile your whole life, and your whole wardrobe is hand-me-downs. As was very much the case for the kids at Casa Hogar San Jose and in particular their swimsuits.

A few times this summer we had the kids over to swim, or took them to the beach - but they were always sporting things that didn't quite fit, that were threadbare, that weren't really made to be swimsuits...and you know what? They got by, they made due, and in fact I never heard one of them complain.

But God in His goodness moved in the heart of a family we know to send a brand new swimsuit to each kid at San Jose. New, their very own, actually made for swimming in water, and ones that really fit! You might imagine that our daughters were super excited to be a part of the visit where we got to go and hand them out. The kids at San Jose were ecstatic, and could not stop talking about the day they were going to get to wear them for the first time!
