Spring Break Cancun!

We're shaking things up a bit! We are redefining what Spring Break in Cancun is all about, and I love it! For many, I know that their first thoughts when they hear "Spring Break in Cancun" are...party, beach, party, drinking, wild, beach, did I mention party, wild or beach yet? Praise God there is a generation that God is calling to spend their time here in Cancun a little bit differently, and praise God that we get to be a part of it all.

Last week we were joined by what we'll just call our Spring Break College Team - it was a blast! We got to love on kids and serve the Lord, and I'm the first to admit that we were able to have a great time while we did it!

We were able to spend a day doing work projects in a pregnancy program we've been partnering with. We were able to serve dinner and hang out with kids at Casa Hogar Esperanza. We served breakfast and hung out with kids from Casa Hogar San Jose. We helped serve lunch at VidaLife Cancun's after school program in Rancho Viejo - where we also sang songs, played games...and I even got to dress up like a pirate for a skit and the lesson we did with the kids! We spent time hanging out with kids from the D.I.F.'s emergency shelter for abused and neglected children. We played with them, did a steak taco cookout with them, got to take about 30 of them to the movies, and even had a water balloon fight on our last afternoon! And we even got to spend one afternoon having quiet times at, in my opinion, one of the world's best and most beautiful beaches ever - what a great week!

These are the days that I remember just how much I love my job. I love when I get to shower kids with the love Jesus, and help them to realize just how much He loves them. I love that God has called us to redefine not only what people think about Cancun, but that we get to continue to invite people to come right into the trenches with us, and to join us in what God is doing here. I loved getting to rub elbows with such a great missions team. I loved watching God encounter us along the way, in the special ways that He always does. What an unforgettable Spring Break in Cancun!

  1. What an awesome way to take Spring break for the kingdom! We are bringing a group to Isla Mujeres in June and would love to connect with you guys and VidaLife. We have a great respect for both of these miniseries and would be blessed to join in what you're doing for the precious people of Cancun! Would there be anyway we could volunteer with you guys and see what God is doing there? You can contact me at candy.siklosi@sbcglobal.net
