So we are back to work, and in the full the swing of things here in Cancun after being gone in the states for about three weeks. We've been working at the Pregnancy Center and visiting the children we serve at the Children's Homes. It always feels good to get back into that comfortable saddle, doesn't it?
So that's what we're doing - getting back in the saddle. But as we head into this 2011, I want to be constantly sure that I'm not just getting back into the same old saddle because it's the comfortable one. Of course we are going to keep working with children's homes, and with families in the community, and with the pregnancy center, and the emergency shelter - but I want to be sure that I'm saddling up for the ride that God has intended for us this 2011.
We're making efforts to continue to seek God in this new year, as we desire nothing more but to be about His business, and what He desires for us to be a part of. As we set our agenda for the day, for the week, for the month, and even for the whole year - our desire is that it be His agenda, and not ours. It would be so easy to go forth with plans here in Cancun that make sense to me. It is tempting at times to plan projects based solely upon what would be good for our visiting missions teams. Shamefully, too many times we can tend to "do ministry" based only upon what we can do on our own strength, with our own resources...and we basically leave God to one side. That is NOT the kind of ministry that I believe has called me to do. Why would I want to fill 2011 with things that I can do with my strength? Why would I want 2011 to be about situations that I can always reason with my own mind? I don't. It's why I am seeking God with all of my heart for what He wants for 2011, and what he wants to do here in our midst in Cancun, and how He would allow me to be a part of it.
So am I ready to be back in the saddle? Yes, but only if it's the saddle that God wants me to be in. I want to see 2011 filled with projects that are significant for God's Kingdom. I want 2011 to be filled with building into relationships with an eternal focus. That is the saddle that I want to be in. God help me to saddle up for the adventure that YOU have for us this year. We can't wait to see where You want to take us!
Take a moment to ask yourself: What saddle are you sitting in as we enter 2011? Is it where the Lord desires for you to be? Ask God what great adventure He has for you this year. Expect great things - it's what our God is all about.
